Nice original AU-50. Not sure what's going on in the upper reverse rim, maybe a planchet defect?

Looks like a clipped planchet with the Blaksley effect.

Thanks! It certainly doesn't look like there was enough metal in that area of the rim to form a full raised rim both in the obverse and reverse.

That would be the oldest clipped (incompleat) planchet I have seen.

Nice looking coin. AU Details ED, I'd get some VerdiCare in those couple spots on the obverse. Southeast side of the reverse looks like it may have already been conserved somehow.

These look dark. Which pics show actual color?

I'm on the fence. I know they're lenient on these, but I still think AU Details. If it straight grades AU50-AU53.
