I indeed this will be interesting. I have a couple with the same problem, nothing but the tone is not red. I can ask 100 dealers in the same room with the coin in hand and get a different grade every time. It still is a beauty. Most will say MS-62. even with no marks at all on it.
The coin was graded by NCG MS-63, I cut it out of the hard slab and sent it to PCGS we will see what their thoughts on the coin and colour of it will be I'm hoping it will grade the same MS-63
I got your answer to your question cownick labelled a MS-63 RB by ANACS in a hard slab. By PCGS it was labelled Detail(Cleaned) another hard hit I was hoping for the same grade MS-63
Papeldog, do you know why they say cleaned? How can they be so sure? Is it because "they can"? IMO, An explanation (by any TPG) should include their grounds or proof for saying details or cleaned.
They have a telephone number I can call during business days 8:00 - 5:00 I'll call tomorrow and talk to them about it. They also have an article on clean coins it tells some things but not what the reason for the call is.
