It's in a pretty strange place (right on the tip of the wing), but I'm pretty sure this is a strike through. None of the design is visible in the indented region, no displaced metal, and no warping on the obverse of the coin behind the indent.

Almost looks like a dropped design element rather than debris.

Possibly a dropped grease fill from one of the leaves? Interesting.

My first thought was that it looked like a reverse leaf. I don't think it's possible to say for sure, but it does look as if it's struck through. I would place it in a 2x2 and save it.

Maybe the olive branches are just too dried out and have started to lose leaves. (Sorry, it's early and seemed funny.)

Thanks guys! I hadn't considered a dropped leaf, but it does look about the right size and shape. I'll put "possible dropped leaf" on the 2x2.

Edit: @Yokozuna never noticed your Tom Waits quote in your signature, but good taste! He has a few good coin lyrics. There's also "I'm shining like a new dime" in Downtown Train, off the top of my head,, and I think a few others that aren't coming to me right now.
