I think these are quite fun error coins and pick them up when I get a chance. This one I got off ebay for $8 including shipping.

Very nice!

It's too bad that you can't read the date with all that distortion from the die cap. Oh, no... wait. I just didn't have my glasses.
The first US coin motto was found on a 1792 half disme and read: "LIB (erty) PAR (ent) OF SCIENCE & INDUSTRY"

At this point, I would call this a deteriorating (thinning) die cap. Great example.
