from personal experience, as well as coins I have seen posted here. it seems PCGS
has tightened their grading over the past couple years. coins that have graded straight in the past or look borderline cleaned and have aged well are now coming back with details designations. grading seems to also have been tightened sometimes based on previous top-pop graders where PCGS
seems to not assign a coin the proper grade based on that coin may exceed top-pop. I dont use these services to a degree where I can compare PCGS
to say ANACS or NGC
. maybe I'm seeing something that isn't there so has anyone seen this occurring in your recent experiences.
