I'm curious. Have just noticed that Numista lists only 1 instance of the 1964 Half penny proof. My immediate reaction is - why just one? And who has it? And has it ever been sold? And if so, how much? I'm sure there's a story behind this.

Rennicks list it as unique, struck at Perth Mint.
I don't know of any auction reports on it, and so I assume that it has never come up for auction and thus, an auction record to ascertain a value cannot me made.

My guess on why it has never come up for auction is that it has been retained by the Perth Mint, or has been given to a museum. If that is the case, it may never come up for auction, and so a value would be irrelevant.

From my 2014 edition of McDonald's coin catalogue.

"The only known 1964. proof halfpenny was sold by Spink & Son (Sydney) in their March 1987 auction
when it and an equally unique penny realised $7200 for the pair. The halfpenny was an impaired proof
and is believed to have been struck especially for the Mint Master of the time."

Value in the above mentioned catalogue is $30,000
