Looks like PMD, a vise job.

Heavens, Dan! You've looked at 10's and 10' of thousands of Vickies , and you've never seen PMD with hammer leather, and another coin? Is the coin itself flat, or is there some curvature? I'm not sure how they got it to stop before the band of the crown if it was all flat. Good to see you back!

Ha! Bill, you are right I have looked at that many and continue to do so. Yes I believe this is PMD but as you point out, the coin is pretty much flat. There are 4 marks on it. The bead line across Vickies face, the denticle line and coin edge in the field running from I-I in Victoria. On the Reverse, there are 2 edge marks, deeper in the field and lighter on the elements. So... I'm fishing for ideas.

When seeing vice jobs without other marks besides the coins, it's usually due to the coins being protected from the vise/pliers, tools used to compress them with a bit of leather, that way the only marks you tend to see is from the other coin being compressed into the surface. The coin was squeezed in a vice with some leather around the outsides and done twice the marking coin moved between presses.
