I hate to call this a doubled die. Looks like one T over anouther. Quite a displacement. The rest of the motto shows a worn dirty 1971. look at Lincoln's face high points. Took pics to show the whole coin. Let me know your thoughts. regards & TIA.

It looks like a contact mark, not a DDO.

Circulation hit pushed metal down from the top of the T?

Not a gouge, I'm not sure about a contact mark, but the circulation thing I guess could happen. I'll take a closeup as it looks like it was part of the T. No doubling I could see. thank you for your replies. Regards

Looks like a lamination peel that got stuck to the coin right at that spot. It looks raised and copper in color to me.

I agree with coinfrog. Looks like the T took a hit and pushed metal over.

Look at the size of the motto devices? They all look smaller than normal. So the die was obviously polished. So something may have been dropped on the die leaving a slight indent there. Showing on the coin as a raised area. It is were a doubled die, more than one device would have been affected in the same direction. That spread would have been larger than the 1955 big DDO. Just a contact mark on the die. (Or something on the coin?)
