Just found my first W-mint quarter in change: a 2019-W "War in the Pacific" in AU grade. Is this worth keeping? Is there any market for these coins? If not, I'll just return it to the wild.
What are CCF collector thoughts on these quarters?
Yes, keep it as there is a nice premium for them at this time; though the values are slowly dropping. A high grade (MS65+) slabbed quarter can earn you some cash even after the grading costs. This said, I pay up to $6 for any I need; nothing more. The price I wish to pay is still hard to find, but it's easier now than last year at this time. I'm not sure if there's a premium on damaged (scratched/dinged/discolored) copies; I won't buy anything less than BU/AU.
Yes, agreed, we still have a demand for these at the shop but the prices have come way down. We are at $5-$7. I'm sure you could probably make a quick flip here for some burger money.
When the W coins first came out back in 2019 they were going, retail, for $50 each. At the time, comparing them to the S mint business strikes that had a mintage of around 1,000,000, I said they would eventually drop to around $5 each retail. Apparently per jmkendall, it looks like I'm probably pretty close.
