thie coin had it's date wiped out somehow..

is it a braided hair large cent/

Ungradable due to damage to the date. Otherwise, it has G sharpness, maybe VG on the reverse.

Now there's challenge. I know that there are several varieties of "hair" for a number of the years. Matching up what you have could reduce the possible years considerably. I think the same is true for other features.

As for what's covering the date, someone else here would probably be of more help. I don't think it's a true "cud" since it is so symmetrical and even, but not really sure.
