Always interesting to see these totals. Was curious about how many 1938, 1942-P, 1942-D, 1942-S, and 1950 nickels you've found to date as those are all difficult for me to find.
The most striking thing to see when comparing to my finds is how much easier a time I have finding the S-minted coins than you...
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,300,000 nickels searched in five years! Already have found THREE complete Jefferson sets!

Very interesting that you found so many keys and semi keys . when did you start searching and how many rolls did you have to search through to find 82 of them ?

To help us understand rates, how many nickels did you search through to arrive at those impressive totals? Interesting that you include the two 'tougher' War Nickels 43-D and 44-S. Agreed that for today's CRH they are indeed key dates, although they are not part of the 9 Jefferson with annual mintages below 10 million (your other choices are). I have a lot of prior threads in the subform on nickel CRH find rates. Pleased to see another member is taking up the cause.

Out of curiosity, I took my numbers for the same key dates to see how they comapre to Pancake's:
1938-D 10 - 3 1938-S 3 - 1 1939-D 6 - 1 1939-S 8 - 3 1943-D 6 - 1 1944-S 4 - 0 1949-S 10 - 14 1950-D 1 - 3 1951-S 16 - 6 1955-P 18 - 12
Total 82 - 44
Mine were found after searching 8,674 rolls over a 5 year period.

I've been roll searching Jefferson nickels for around 9 months, 5 rolls at a time so I've probably searched approximately 200 rolls. 1938-D 0 1938-S 1 1939-D 0 1939-S 0 1943-D 0 1944-S 0 1949-S 4 1950-D 0 1951-S 2 1955-P 1
