The S on your coin is a mintmark indicating that it was minted in Finland. The 'S' is for Suomi, Finnish name for the country.
I don't think it's worth over face value in circulated condition. I have found several of these coins on my various trips to the Eurozone since 2002. Mintage figure is 70 million so they are very common.
This is a strange urban myth that gets dispelled 1000 times a day on European FB groups / forums. No one knows where it started, but it has even been picked up by mainstream media in France, and is annoying as heck. This coin has a mintage in the millions, and is worth FV, nothing more.
