Folks, As you may know, I sent off 48 coins to ANACS for grading. At least two came back that I believe are under graded by several points when I compare them to the PCGS photo guide and others on EBay. Could a few of you please take a look at the two ANACS coins and render an estimate? If they might be under graded, I may send them to PCGS/NGC. Thanks. Bill

Grading is subjective. I've sent off coins that came back a lower grade and I've purchased coins that I felt were overgraded. It happens.

Would be informative to know what the ANACS grades are for the coins pictured (above).

Agree. The V-nickel looks possibly cleaned in these pics.

The Liberty nickel looks AU-58 to me, mostly from all the circulation marks in the fields. I've never graded a Burmese rupee before, so I have no opinion on that one.

AU55/58 on the nickel, no opinion on the rupee. Personally, I couldn't justify the cost of sending in the nickel at that grade, so I'd leave it be.

Although we may be able to look at on screen pictures and perhaps give an opinion based on what we see, A third party grader has five advantages that we don't:- 1. examining under 10X magnification 2. ideal lighting conditions, 3. raw, hand held, 4. extensive comparative experience over hundreds of coins of the same type and 5. not under plastic.
For these reasons, I will always favor the declared slab grade, despite the fact that they sometimes get it slightly wrong.
If you are not happy with the slab grade you have to either a). swallow your pride and still accept, or b). pay the extra fees for re submission.
For various reasons, none of my coins are slabbed.

AU53 on the V-nickel, don't know enough with the rupee, guessing it's in the VF range.

I couldn't find a graded example of the Burmese 1/4 Pe for comparison, but PCGS seems to be all over the map on sub-AU grades for the silver types of this era with similar design. Look at the XF details coin in the first link with far worse detail than your coin, followed by the VF details in the second. https://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotv...7daebd727ff2https://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotv...7f81689192a2If the grader felt it was a weak strike rather than wear, maybe you get into an XF? I'm not a fan of slabbed coins in my collection, so if these were mine and I didn't like the grade, I might just remove them from the slabs. But if your goal is to have the best grade you can get from a TPG, sounds like you have good consensus here on what you might get with re-submitting.

Patience is a virtue ... (and demands more popcorn)
@navycapt, after checking eBay on that 1/4 Pe, yeah, seems it should merit XF pretty handily. Whether it's worth it or not is a different question.
