Lately I have been upgrading my Dansco 7070. I am doing things like adding a 1909 S vdb instead of just a vdb. I did the 1955 double die and the 1937 three legged buffalo too. Any suggestions on other coins with interesting back stories or affordable rarities? By affordable I mean less than $2,000. I have the gold page too and would LOVE to include an 1838 $10 Smithsonian, but THAT gets a bit too pricey.

unclemac,

But this post is no good without Pictures!
Looks like you're are going for the big ticket items and at what conditions? But from what you just listed so far, those already is easily over 2 grands each.

Would love to see a photo of the three legged buffalo in the nickel 7070 slot. Very cool.

Here is one of the members, upgrade to this. He has one of the most beautiful sets I've ever seen.

The option to see the coins in an album is fun.

i am not looking for top grades either, what I like are coins that circulated, coins with character. I like to wonder "where has this coin been".

...posting pix seems like a chore since I have never bothered to cataloged any of my collections and my tech skills stopped with the flip phone.

The phrase is "doubled" die, not "double." May seem pedantic, but the distinction bespeaks a lack of understanding of what a doubled die actually is. Double die sounds like there are two dies or that the coin was struck twice. This is not the case. The doubling is on the die itself and appears on every coin that die strikes in its lifetime. The die itself is what is "doubled."

I've heard there is a lovely 1916-D Mercury dime that would probably look fabulous in your 7070!

On your gold page, it might push the $2000 limit a little but you could do a piece of Charlotte gold and a piece of Dahlonega gold, helps reflect all the mints the US has used

In my 7070 I've got an obverse mint mark Walking Liberty half, an 1878 8TF Morgan dollar, and a high relief Peace dollar. Each of them started their series and were just slightly different than how the design was carried forward in the future. And they're all reasonably cheap, certainly below 2k a piece
