Seller has this as an AU coin. I think I agree and would give it AU55-58. Not sure if it would cross into low Mint State territory. What do you think?

Not quite MS but the strike is exceptionally strong.

I'll say AU-55, choice for grade.

I am at 58. The coin may of had a cleaning as hairlines around the date and between rays on reverse

the coin may have been cleaned or swiped with something a little abrasive but I'm going with AU55 straight. to many marks on the obverse to make 58 even with the strong strike.

that is a pretty heavy rim ding above the 'S' in state(s)

I agree with the upthread comments. It's a decent mid-AU with a nice strike and some luster. There are some fairly heavy contact marks on the reverse, particularly the reeding contacts on the eagle and the gouges on the rock.

I made an offer for it which was accepted. Let's see what the coin looks like in hand.

AU details. Looks like there was a deep scratch horizontally on the neck and it has been worked on to make it look not so bad. Surface color in that area does not match the rest of the coin.

Well, the coin arrived today and I can't say I like it. It definitely won't go into my collection.

Off looking for a much nicer coin for my Type Set. Unfortunately, not much luck so far. Went through 100+ Collectors Corners ads, 250+ GC auctions, and 500+ eBay listings. NOTHING that appealed to me.
