Can you help me on this coin? What caused it to be this color? What are most of the letters look like cuts going through them.

Environmental staining/toning/discolouration, could be from any number of sources, such as having been buried in acidic soil, or having been kept in coffee cup holders or even from long term exposure in the sun. These quarters are showing up everywhere these days, but they did not leave the mint in this condition, this staining/toning is damage, post mint damage ( PMD). Quote: What are most of the letters look like cuts going through them. Please translate this for me. Your obverse photos are not sharp, so details are hard to see. On the reverse I notice marks that are more PMD.

Agree with merclover. I do like the apparent toning. Better photos might tell us more.

Thank you. I will try again to make pictures sharper after work. Yet if you zoom in on the reverse side on the 1896 there are gouges missing from each letter. As well as what looks like the letters are melting in the word crossroads.. Will send better pictures tonight. Thanks for your advise

Here are the new pictures are the 2007 P Utah State Quarter. Thank you once again for the knowledge you've given me with your image optimizer. However this is the best I could do for the photo yeah I could tell you what I saw. This Utah quarter has a white line that goes down the left side of the spike hits the ground and then goes around both of the trains you can see it faintly in the pictures I am sending I know after I saw it from being able to zoom in on your optimizer. Is this doubling. And is it a error. Thank you once again for your time.

Soda, coffee and other staining agents. If it rinses off, then it is not a stain. But if it doesn't wash off, it is a stain. No premium. just a spendable. coin.

Your photos of the obverse are not sharp enough to look closely for doubling. Your first reverse photo is nice and sharp (focused), but both sets of obverse photos are blurry (not focused). Without sharp photos we are unable to help you, I'm sorry.
