Apologies for the less than ideal photos - I should be able to get better in a couple of days. Just wondering what people opinions are on grade for this on, VF details perhaps? I know the adjustment marks on the reverse have occoured on other examples also, but these are outside my area of expertise. Thanks!

VF, possibly XF Details. Nice obverse, shame about the reverse

I think it's XF cleaned, and wouldn't discount it for the adjustment marks.

It seems bizarre that anyone would adjust a half dime. A gold eagle for sure, but a half dime?

Coinfrog - don't have it in hand tonight, hopefully I can add some much crisper photos on Thursday

Nice coin!

At least the adjustment marks are on the reverse.

I'd say at least very fine or possibly better!

The portrait on this coin is stunning and will be what sells it in the future!

I'd say XF-40, and if those are adjustment marks in both directions, it might straight grade. Looks like an LM-5 die marriage, which is a scarcer variety (of an already scarce coin).

I'm in the same boat as nickelsearcher, but I would need to get authenticated by either NGC or PCGS.

Thanks all for comments so far - i'll get more focused pics up as soon as I'm able to towards the end of this week, and no doubt will be headed off to NGC at some point.

Anyone have any thoughts on approximate value? I assume its still worth the effort of grading even if it does end up a details grade.

I'll ballpark $2500, maybe 2x that if it straight grades. It is a beautiful coin. Even if it grades details, the NGC authentication will pay for itself.
