Hello!

I am so excited to say that I found my first strong Double Die!

Especially being new to this, I need help! I look at coppercoins.com and I know that its a CCW rotation of the hub!

I tried to look for the die markers, but in all honesty, its difficult because of the state that its in!

Let me know so that I can send it in and get it graded!

Thanks!

Congrats on your first DDO. Not sure which one it is: 2,4,5 or 7 are all rotated CCW as is yours.

Below is a link for you...

NotoriousABE to the CCF!

EXCELLENT find congratulations

now which one is it? it can only be DDO-002 or DDO-007.

looks like DDO-002 http://www.varietyvista.com/01b%20L...2PDDO002.htm
because of the overall thickness of the doubling of IN GOD WE TRUST and the shape of the "2".

Variety Vista has one die marker. a die gouge on the front shoulder...maybe you can see it?

Thanks I appreciate it @Centsation and @levelsofmadnes !!

Here is what I think is the gouge!

Also especially from what you can see of the coin, what grade do you think I'll get for it?

Here is a side by side of the 002/007:

On die '007' there is a marker on the top left arm on the 'W'

Thanks coop! That helps a lot! It looks more like a 002!

But especially know that, what grade do you think this will get?

Tough call on that. A lot of contact marks, that would lower the grade. The greatest joy is just finding the coin. What was your first clue? A lot of people search with my simple method. Looking at the '9'.

Note the affect area on the '9' on these doubled dies? That is what to look at first. Note on the same set of images, the normal and the master die doubled '9'. Big differences in the DDO and the non DDO. So just look for the affected areas on that digit. Normal, then move on to the next coin.

hello NotoriousABE

i am at the beginning stages of learning how to grade a coin.

but my guess would be at the higher end of FINE or low XF.

once again congratulations on your find

O goodness thank you @coop and @levelsofmadnes !! I seriously value your assistance and specificity!

In all seriousness, should I even consider submitting it? I looked up that depending on the possible value a coin has, will be more or less than it costs to submit it to a third party, so what do y'all think?

Great find! Solid DDO, however I don't think it would be worth submitting to a TPG. Value doesn't exceed the cost of submitting the coin. If you did want to submit it, you may want to go with ANACS, as they are the cheaper option and you might not lose as much money.

Appreciate it @QuarterHoarder72 !! I might get it graded and keep it for CENT-imental purposes as my first DD! Wow I love this community and involvement - its firing me!
I was so inspired that I actually stopped by the bank to get some coins (mostly 2020 pennies, but I'm definitely learning that you get what you put in)!!

Here is a similar grade (yours would be lower grade though) to get an idea of price value. It would cost more to have it graded than the value of your coin:

Probably in the range of $50 for the fees, not including shipping and insurance.
