I'm not seeing anything other than a well circulated cent...however,if your wondering about the lines running north above tha date, I'm thinking a stain...if that not the area, please state what your wondering about..

I think him look at the rim. Is nothing there. We see wildly on the coins. Is not an error or variety. The rim can split from many causes but is not considered an planchet error or such.

The 1972 LMC had numerous DDO varieties. The only one that I am familiar with, that had any markers associated with the obverse rim, is Wexler's DDO-004 in which there were rim cuds in approximately the 8-10:00 area adjacent to LIBERTY. The splitting of the rim on your coin could be caused by a myriad of reasons. However, being that there are numerous 1972 varieties (which I have a very soft spot for and carefully examine any of them I come across), MUCH clearer pics of the date and the motto on the obverse would definitely help. Thanks.
