I'm super suspicious of the whole "black beauty" designation in the first place. Id be interested to see hard evidence in the form of chemical analysis showing that the "black beauty" is even a real thing.

Your coin looks as if it was rubbed with gun oil. Note the build up in the lettering.

I agree that it is not a black beauty, but gun oil would not do anything other than make it look wet or help collect dirt, the way cooking oil would. You are thinking about "bluing." Totally different, and much more involved process.
