I bought mine on ebay at a cost of $80 USD. It comes with the usb cord and adapter for plugging into a standard 110v outlet. It has the capability of operating with a rechargeable battery pack but the battery was optional and not included. It also has a port for installing a micro sd card for storage of pics (also not included). There is a menu option to change different settings built in. Operation was simple and transferring the images to my computer (Windows 10) was easy. No driver or software updates required. I simply connected the device to a usb port, unit turned on automatically. Pressed the button to transfer the images and it was done. Even nicer was the fact that I didn't have to do any resizing. Just crop the image and it was below the required 300 KB limit that this site requires. Here are the pics of my scope and packaging.

Are the onboard lights adjustable? Lots of glare.

John, The lights are not adjustable, they come on when the unit powers up. I will have to look in the menu to see if it can be disabled. I would prefer an independent light source too. If you look at the pics however, you will notice the upper pic has the scope tilted back slightly to reduce glare. The second pic has the scope Perpendicular to the coin which created the glare, so tilting the vertical adjustment at the base will help. Also to get a full shot of larger coins requires placing the scope atop an 8" box to increase the distance between scope and coin and that also reduces the glare.

You should be able to block off as may onboard lights as you want to, or put a filter on it as well. That's what I did on both of my scopes.

According to the Amazon site for this scope, it states:

Quote:
Built-in 8 adjustable LED fill lights around the lens creates full-lighted view for you to see real-time images on the screen.

DBM, I did look at it.
It appears to be exactly the same as the subject.
however, I think I am leaning towards getting one for $ 10 more at Amaz. it has flexible lights It would be easier to put some type of filter in these than at the subject unit.
\Am in no rush and shall see.

One of my two has 8 lights also, but I still had to block off 7 of them and filter that one. Just make sure not to post photos of the monitor with the coin on the screen.

Can you explain what problems you have with the 2 lights?

One light source is always best for error/variety shooting.

Yes, I agree, but with the scope I posed up above, you man move one light out of the way and not use it..
