Is the new 5th edition of Strike it Rich with pocket change worth buying versus the existing 4th edition.
Thank You

Let me begin by saying that I do not own a copy of either edition - searching for error coins in circulation is not an interest of mine.

That said, eight years have passed since the 4th edition of the book was published. There have been quite a few new error coins discovered over that time frame.

As the book is not very expensive (i.e., less than $20) - the 5th edition seems like a good purchase if it discusses an area of interest for you. It likely has significant "repeat" content vs. the 4th edition, but it will also have lots of new material to interest you.

Ken's website hasn't been updated in 5 years now, makes me wonder what's up? He still lists Cherrypicker's Guide books at ridiculously low prices, which I'm sure he can't provide now. I'd call him as his phone number is listed on the contact page. https://koinpro.tripod.com/

On the Numismatic Biblomania Society site, there are only two reviews 2nd edition:

and one review on the 4th Edition:

Never say never here is a story of a guy doing just that only because of this book!

$21,000.00 to be exact, maybe not super wealthy but not a bad trade out for a single cent.

The book isn't expensive, and it has lots of good photos and information on the later date error coins out there in circulation. If that is a subject you enjoy, then it's a good buy, the latest edition should be more up to date on any pricing and errors known. These types of reference books are generally best when the latest edition is purchased in almost all cases.

Wow this book just scored someone else another $20K+ coin. I'd say it might be worth checking all those 1983 cents now on the scale. Of course the price will start to drop as more surface, if there are many more out there.
