Since I have a soft spot for the Georgivs VI coins I had the chance to search a fair amount of these 50 cent pieces over the weekend and came across this.

I am torn between a minor pivoted and slightly tilted hub, or just a super convenient die chip.

The reason for my thoughts towards it being a hubbing issue is due to having more than 2 examples of the exact same coin, from different rolls while the rest look normal.

My open conclusion (not set in stone) if it were a die chip, you would see some sort of progression from smaller to larger from example to example, while doubled dies stay the same for every example found.

Opinions welcome.

One thing I can say for certain, is I'm not too happy with the quality the coins arrive in. Most are suppose to be "BU" while they end up looking circulated even straight out of a roll which is a bummer.

Strange you say that they look circulated. DBM and I have flawless examples. I may pick up another couple. There is a thread in the NCLT section.

Minor anomaly for sure.
Like loonielewy the one I have is the most well struck, brilliant, unblemished circulation strike I have ever come across.

Only a matter of time before you see them in ICCS flips for sale on eBay...

He does have a way with words. And, he's not wrong. .

How about a full shot pic? I'm honestly skeptical at this point.

Here is a closer photo, hopefully it shows a bit clearer than the others.

SPP-Ottawa,
I wouldn't be overly surprised either somewhere down the road, since there was only 10,000 rolls minted (around 250,000 individual coins) I don't imagine they would have used very many working dies so whatever this is, was most likely a very limited run even if it is just minor.

DBM & loonielewy,

A good portion of the coins I have looked like there were minor dings in the fields kind of like bag marks, two of which you can see with the naked eye easily. I did get a few good ones that are flawless, I was just expecting a little more then what I received.

I have almost 2 rolls that look lightly circulated, to my eyes anyway. I have been reading that I'm not the only one either, there were others that weren't too happy with the coins out of the rolls they received.

That's the thing JW007, most of these coins are sealed up in rolls that may never be broken open. You say yours are messed up. Ours are not. Is it just luck of the draw? I was hoping they were all as nice as mine. .

Obverse and Reverse of one of the "circulated" coins I pulled from a roll as requested.

If you look in the center of the reverse you will see an indent.

And on the obverse you can see some small dings in the bottom left and that hideous scratch behind his head.

Thanks for the pics. I have some more, from the seller I got my 1st one from, in the mail. They are from the same roll as the 1st, so I hope they are just as nice. Keep you posted when they arrive.
