I'm wondering about the notch-like features on the date, are they caused by MD? Thank you for your expertise...

Edit: Dave700x identified the VAM.

There's a number of VAMs listed for the 1921-D that have doubling or tripling on the date and stars. I believe these are minor Class II doubled dies(?).

I couldn't find a match to your coin, although there are some listings lacking in photos that I couldn't rule out. Namely VAM-15 and 25.

Thanks Tanman! I've seen those lists for Peace dollars but was looking at different (shorter) VAM list for Morgans, will go through the list you provided and see if I find a match, thanks for the info!

I skipped over that one since it made no mention of a doubled date, but that's definitely it. Nice catch Dave!

For 1921 Morgans I immediately go to the die crack/ break guide when there's a decent amount of cracks. The break on the S made it an easy VAM to pick out of the line up so to speak.

To the point @Tanman2001 made, none of the descriptions for this VAM list a doubled date, so I'm not sure how long it would've taken me to identify it since I was looking out for 'doubled/tripled date' through the VAM list.

Thanks Dave, we posted at the same time but you said it best, I will look for die cracks/breaks first going forward...
