Hi all, first post here!

I've recently acquired this coin from eBay, graded MS67 (Millenium First Strike) from PCGS. Coin appears legitimate looking at PCGS database, but I haven't seen staining like this on any of my other Sovereigns (see pictures).

Any idea what this is? Is it likely a fake?

If anyone has any insight I'd really appreciate it!

Did it appear this way in the eBay listing?

Hi,

I believe the coin is the one that was shown on the listing, however you only see this staining under the light so it wasn't really apparent.

Of course you do.
As a consumer you have the right to return anything you are not happy with for a full refund. The law is the law and a seller simply stating 'no returns accepted' does not circumvent this.

I don't think it looks fake. I didn't think sovereigns toned like that but it looks like toning, or maybe a residue.

If it is a residue, acetone is certainly worth a try.
Toning on 22ct fine gold coins normally takes many decades to be obvious.

For this coin an accurate check for weight is warranted.
