OK, Jaime. How much did you pay him? A great numismatic addition to toonie research that warms the cockles of a few member's hearts. Well done!

Good website thank you.

On the coin and Canada site discussions someone posted a brand new Camel Toe 1996 from Edmonton in the picture it also looks like it has no left back leg not sure if they are all like this one?

I have had an opportunity to review the website before it went live and think that the owner has done an amazing job of illustrating and detailing the current counterfeit crisis that has befallen us.

I can't help but think about the UK 1 pound coin that was heavily counterfeited and the combined effort it took to remove them from circulation.

Given that the Twoonies from 2012 onwards have a different weight, EM signature and metal content why are they not actively being withdrawn?

The only thing I can think is the difficulty of replacing 400 million + twoonies with the old design/composition by the security design

During the last few months I went through 50 boxes of twoonies and noticed that 1996 is still the biggest proportion of coins. The security type counted for less than 30%.

At the current rate of mintage, we are years away from having sufficient coins in circulation to manage a recovery without impacting the need for coins.

My friend at CamelToeToonies.ca has just found a brand new obverse design for 2005-dated counterfeits that feature SERIF lettering on the legend. The website designates this obverse as "2005A". Also included is a new obverse die crack "CT05A-1". Check out the website for images. The newly discovered coin is reported to have been found in a box of toonies from the Toronto Transit Commission sealed since Dec 29, 2020. Simply wonderful work!

Here is my suggestion for a fix. would it work? I think so:
1 the BoC/Govmt, declares the $2 demonetized, not illegal to possess, but with zero value, no buying power, immediately.
2 Gov makes it law immediately, without endless consultations, for all money institutions to collect all toonies. For each toonie collected, fake or not, they will get $1.90. Tough banks, you will be unable to appeal, as you have made exorbitant profits for years and can easily afford to handle it! Timeline: 2 years and after 1 year you will only get $ 1 paid out. That will speed it up.
3 Banks can not levy a charge for this and only credit an Account.
4 RCM will issue brand new toonies made secure, or notes via their normal channels.
The GOV action would have to be swift, soon and without ANY red (political)tape. Lets say starting October 01 2021.

would this work?

First of all the BOC has nothing to do with the toonie, it"s the RCM that owns the copyrights on the coins, only they can prove counterfeiting and asked the RCMP ,CBSA and so on for enforcement, just like any private popular products that are faked only the owner not the end user can ask for enforcement. Call your MP obviously these toonie are not causing a great problem to the system according to RCM, but the RCM is the outfit that needs to act first. Although very little cash is exchanged during this covid times, I don"t really notice any one looking at their change
