Oh, I've made a mistake with the decade with my last coin.

So, I need to post another one - the Golden Horde pul dated 721 AH, Sarai al-Jadidah mint

"16 puls - dang" inscription

There hadn't been any new coins for the 1330s posted since the last listing. Now into the 1320s...

1329 - EddieDiz
1328 - none yet (would be 728 AH)
1327 - Spence
1326 - Grinya (726 AH)
1325 - EddieDiz
1324-23 - none yet (would be 724 and 723 AH)
1322 - Grinya (722 AH)
1321 - Grinya (721 AH)
1320 - Grinya?, JohnConduitt? (720 AH frozen date)

For this decade, just as for the previous, the AH/AD date conversion is consistently (and conveniently) AD=AH+600. IIRC the same would be true for the 1310s as well.

@Grinya what's the date on the Mokhshi dang? It looks like 718 and that would put it in the next decade I think.

[EDIT: I see that Grinya already noticed. Added the replacement entry - very pretty!]

For the 1320s I have this little billon coin from the Sultanate of Delhi... some day I'll get it out of its plastic and take better photos.

Sultanate of Delhi, Tughluq dynasty
Ghiyath ad-Din Tughluq (reigned 1320-25 AD)
4 gani, dated [72]3? = 1323 AD?
Numista 43617

The date 1323 is on the 2x2, and what I see on the coin does not appear to contradict it, but does not necessarily require it either; the upper right end of the supposed 3 is sticking out onto the flan around 8h, and doesn't really look like any digit.
In any case the entire reign of Ghiyath ad-Din Tughluq apparently fits into this decade anyway.
[EDIT: added Numista link.]

AFAIK my next dated coin is in the 1170s, though I believe I have some unidentified pieces that are likely to slot into this gap.

Not very nice Golden Horde pul from Qrim mint with the name of Uzbek Khan. Date is off-flan, but this type is dated 725AH

To compliment @eddie's Parvus from the previous page, here is a Denar that is also datable to 1329 AD. The rev inscription is +M REGIS KARVLI and I've attributed it as Huszar 471 and Frynas H.24.25.

I'd hate to ponder going a single decade on this thread without posting a French coin.

Therefore, here is a Maille Blanche that is datable to the range with 1323 to 1324 AD. The obv legend is +KAROLVS REX BNDICTV SIT NOME DNI NRI DEI while the rev legend is +FRANChORVM. I've attributed it as Duplessy 243 and Roberts 2482.

Here is an AE Pugesa from Catalonia, Spain that is datable to the range 1327 to 1336 AD. It was minted in Lleida on behalf of Alfonso III "The Kind". The obv legend is PUG ESA DEL EDA and the rev legend is almost exactly the same: PUG ESA DEL ESA. It is attributed as MEC 281 and CRU 196.

This is my last coin to post for the decade and I'd love some confirmation/correction on the attribution from folks, so please chime in if you have anything to add to this description. I believe that it is a Jital from the Sultantate of Delhi that is dated AH720, so 1320 AD. It was issued by Nasr al-Din Khusrau. It was attributed by Stephen Album as Tye 434 and GG D296.

Any more posts for the 1320s? This is last call--let's drop back to the decade of the 1310s starting tomorrow morning.

No 1310s from me that I could think of offhand (or indeed anything identified at all until we get into the 12th century), nor any more 1320s, so might as well post the final (?) listing for 1320s dates...

1329 - EddieDiz, Spence
1328 - apparently none (would be 728 AH)
1327 - Spence; Grinya (727 AH)
1326 - Grinya (726 AH)
1325 - EddieDiz; Grinya (725 AH)
1324-23 - apparently none (would be 724 and 723 AH)
1322 - Grinya (722 AH)
1321 - Grinya (721 AH)
1320 - Spence (720 AH); Grinya?, JohnConduitt? (720 AH frozen date)

I only have one coin from the 1310s that meets the rules. Edward II is the less illustrious of the 3 Edwards who struck coins that are almost exactly the same.

Edward II Class 11b2 Penny, 1310-1314

Tower. Silver, 18mm, 1.3g. Portrait with Group 11 crown; + EDWAR' ANGL' DNS hyB; angular backs on C and E; tall lettering. Long cross moline, pellets in angles; CIVI TAS LON DON (S 1456).

That is a great way to get us started @john.

Here is an Obol from across the channel (France). It is datable to 1311 AD, with an obv legend of +PHILIPPVS REX and a rev legend of BVRGENSIS NOV VS. I have attributed it as Duplessy 233 and Roberts 2641. Too bad about the slight edge chipping.

I continue to be impressed with the variety of coins showing up here! Brechna was a new one for me, and it was nice to see something Iberian.

I don't have anything dateable within the decade or within 10 years. Closest is this esterlin/sterling of the Duchy of Brabant. Depending on the reference, striking began in 1317 or 1318, and would have ceased by 1329 when striking of the esterlin @spence and I showed for the 1320s began.

Obv: Brabant castle. I DVX DE BRABANTIE
Rev: Cross with three pellets in each corner. MONETA BRVXEL

Here is a Gigliato from the Kingdom of Naples that is datable to between 1312 to 1317 AD. The obv legend is ROBERT OI GRA IERL ET SICIL REX and the rev legend is COMES PUNCIE ET FOLCALQERII. Oddly, Naples seems to be a weird intersection of Italian and French numismatics and so I have attributed as Biaggi 1634, Duplessy 1646, and Roberts 6856.
