Wade,

Looking at it from that point of view I have to agree, I was thinking more restricted to Canadian buyers/sellers but when you put it that way I could see why someone from another country would spend the extra money on something we here would consider common.

I always wondered why the common stuff sold like clockwork on eBay, your point is a reasonable conclusion.

Even in the USA it's probably easier to order what specific coins you wanted like I get American coins and I'm sure you guys get Canadian in your change, but to get specific coins if you collect Canadian it's easier for most to order then cross the boarder of your not close. Anyways I picked up 10 rolls of nickels to go through on lunch break

At coin shows, which seems to be years ago there are a couple or three dealers that the bulk of their sales is new coins in 2x2, these special loonies and toonies especially the colour ones were being sold for 10 bucks, some how these sales pay for their table fees. Driving all around town to hunt for these special coins cost time and gas plus teller good will, have no problem sellers making a reasonable markup on anything. I can attest it"s really hard to find these special coins for face

@john100, so what do you think the mark up would be for a mint roll of the non coloured 2018 tonnies? If I did decide to sell one or two? Also offers still up I'm from Hamilton ont. If you want one of these rolls I'll sell it cost. 50$ a roll

If I ever did try to sell one it would be to purchase a loupe and a USB microscope. My fiance is only allowing me to use my coins for my coin budget but I use them to exchange rolls. And I think I only have about 100$ in change that I can continue to cycle or spend on more coin gear. So I may try and sell a roll or two to purchase better equipment and not have to use my coin budget on the purchases. I know another member here had chimed in saying the roll could go for 70$ on auction, though that seems kinda steep. But I mean if people are paying 5-10$ for a single toonie I guess not.

Nothing wrong with selling to gain a little extra to put towards equiptment or future purchases, you could always throw a roll on ebay for face value start bid and calculate your shipping fee and go from there, I'm sure if collectors want them bad enough you would end up getting a few collectors into a bid war.

To bad I can only really afford one roll at a time lol, I'll pick one up on Monday and see what happens I didn't get there in time before they closed today. It would suck if they opened them all for circulating before I got some more.

Thanks for the offer but I have enough of this type, my first suggestion is join the Hamilton club when things get rolling you will meet fellow collectors and learn a lot, get as many rolls you can budget and auction them at the club, win win for everyone

If they hold then for me for another two weeks or if I find an error that can bring a nice premium I'll buy as many as I can. Also do some people deface coins so there is less good condition in circulation? I find alot of quarters and dimes I find from 68-1980+are covered in deep scratches from one side of the rim to the other, like they were scratched with a nail or pin.

I noticed that too! I see it alot on 1968 dimes but I just assumed a roll hunter defaced it so that others would know its not silver.

Must be a thing people do, I thought it only happened in my area lol.

Most of them were probably used in parking meters, vending machines, that is why they are scratched, No normal coin hunter would take the time to scratch every coin.. Know a marker maybe..

I find the machine marks from parking meters etc are usually round, the coins in question all have pretty deep scratches, looks different then parking meter coins. I'll post some of the specific ones I was mentioning, I see them all the time. Though they are older coins so maybe older machines have different mechanics that could cause it. But to me the coins we see look like a sharp point has been pushed into the coin like someone wen crazy and really scratched up the coin lol.
