Great coin! I am wondering what it is worth? Hope you don't mind the question.

Pricing on the 1879 Shield nickel is so hard. GS VG is $425, PCGS price guide is $500. There is one on eBay a bit more crusty than mine for $880 but I'm not 100% sure it's not a circulated Proof as it's raw. I wouldn't sell it for GS or PCGS money. They are just to hard to replace.

Next coin in my collection is my 1913 S Barber quarter. PCGS AG3.
On an earlier reply, I stated I try and buy undergraded or top of the grade coins. Here is a prime example. The top coin is mine and the lower is for comparison. Both PCGS AG3. The colors are more close than the pictures show. So for basically the same price, which would you have bought?

Congrats on a great collection. I love your collecting approach, and it certainly makes your collection more portable than most!

So true. Looking only at slabbed TPG coins, there are 38 1913-S Barber quarters for sale on eBay right now compared to a whopping 0 1879 business strike Shield nickels. It's hard to place a value on something that isn't widely collected, but at the same time isn't readily available.

Back to nickels in my 24 coin collection. PCGS AG3 No Date Buffalo nickel. Double struck in collar. I have see 2 others with very similar strike rotation. Both being higher grade and they show no date either. One is a type 1 reverse so it's a 1913 by default,
