Very excited to have acquired my first Byzantine coin recently, this aspron trachy of Manuel I Komnenos, dated to 1160-64.
Obverse: Christ Pantokrator flanked by stars, IC XC in fields
Reverse: Manuel and ST. Theodore standing, each with one hand on a sword, the other on patriarchal cross set in a globe.
Sear 1959.
Obverse has a bit of wear, but the reverse is pretty sharp.

Thanks, everyone.

On storage, yes, I need to figure something out. I have a couple of bracteates which arrived in those two-part rigid "capsules" (for lack of a better word). This one just arrived in a clear flip, and that's not going to work for longer term storage. But I don;t know if those capsules are made thick enough.

On a different note, this is the first addition to my saints theme of a saint who is venerated exclusively in the Eastern church (St George is an example of a saint venerated in both Western and Eastern christian worlds). But there is a Kingdom of Bosnia coin with Saint Gregory the Great that I have on my list, so maybe this will be the beginning of delving into some new places in that part of the world.

This question has come up before. I am reminded of the thread at the link below. I guess there's no easy answer to storage where scyphates are concerned.
