We sold our collections more than a decade ago but we held back a few interesting long forgotten coins. We recently stopped by at the FUN convention in Orlando and got one "slabbed" and the other an AES Grav authenticated, it turned out to be the plate coin in a well-known AES Grav book.

The first coin is a 1617 German STates Taler of Pomerania-Stetin commemorating a peaceful resolution to a beer tax the inhabitants of Stetin found very objectionable at the time.
The reverse depicts a wise emperor navigating a boat through a storm while the inscription talks of nonviolence and resolution thorough knowledge.

The second coin is an AES Grave depicting a lion with a sword in the mouth on one side and a horse's head on the other side. The coin dealer James Beach was kind enough to examine the coin and it apparently is a match for the plate coin in this book on cast coins

We found a few very interesting Canadian coins that we will post in the Canadian forum when they are authenticated by NGC.

Most people will not go to unfamiliar blind links. Suggest you figure out how to post images, it is pretty simple, if you want replies.

I was simply showing the coins. If anyone knows anything about these items other than what I
have shown that would be great.

One thing that would help is information on how to edit the original post if that is possible or do I simply start a new post?

There is a link to upload images here, the only requirement is that they are less than 300kb.

The 1617 Thaler doesn't belong in this section. It belongs in the World coin section. I removed it so that you can repost it there.

Please re-post that Pomerania coin when you get a chance.

Very unusual, and I am seeing wildly different auction prices, from $2,000 to $20,000.

Nothing to do with beer, by the way. It is about the 100th anniversary of the Reformation. And steering that boat did not end well. The year after the coin was minted, the Defenestration of Prague occurred, and the 30 Years War ensued, creating all kinds of havoc in this part of Europe ( and many other places)

Sid:
I really do hope that you get back into some serious numismatics, if financial conditions permit.
Otherwise, your loss would be a loss to numismatics generally.

Sel_691 , thank you for the kind words. I have enjoyed numismatics my entire life and nothing has changed for me. We really enjoyed the FUN show and indeed plan to get more involved with the hobby again.
Best,
Sid
