I just took a closer look and noticed the FG initials are not similar for its intended design for this year rather has the Proof 1970 S FG design.

OR do we have two FG initials varieties for Proof 1971 S Half Dollar?

I took some photos from the internet for comparison.

Please verify. Thank you.

Looks like you are comparing an example of a polished die and normal die example? Also always compare with the same years. Sometimes design changes from year to year, sometimes the same for years. So always check exact years to compare. But as I mentioned die polishing removes/alters sub devices. To much polishing can remove these sub devices, and polishing can make them smaller. Fresh ones will be stronger.

Also die wear is a consideration of strength. (These are all 1971-S examples)

Just RDV-004 with die polishing. The top of the G overhangs the bottom too far to be 003.
