Hey everyone. I got a package in the other day and this was in it. 1967 Dagger Date. I assume this is some type of error? I just don't see what this is describing looking at this coin. Maybe one of you guys can fill me in on what "dagger date" is. Whatever is. Thanks and God bless.

Except for the shape of the top of the '7' It seems to have a 'hangman's' hook at the end of the horizontal bar and the vertical part has a slight curve to it.

Never heard of this. Makes me think it is some sort of BS from Littleton or the like.

I think this was just someone's personal description, not a mainstream numismatic term. Excellent photos, btw!

Trying to sell a normal coin for a premium.

Even the nickel has the same '7':

@dac, I agree that the date looks pretty normal. Here is a comparison of just that design element, with yours on the left:

Thanks everyone. I figured it was something made up. Luckily I didn't pay a premium for it. Probably .50 at most considering the lot and overall amount of coins. Not all are errors. This guy has some interesting tone if nothing else.
Thanks for your input.

I have seen these hand drawn depictions of Lincoln cents before but cannot remember who did them. I will report back if I have any good info.

@coinfrog I have a friend that knows I recently took up the hobby. He has the opportunity to purchase real estate on a large scale and has quite the business. In some cases (sadly) the family left doesn't care about what their deceased collected. They either leave behind or sale to him. Sometimes they leave the entire contents of the home.
Anyway. He calls me for coins, arrowheads or anything antique he doesn't want himself. I have several older flips with writing on them I can't bring myself to take out. To look at the effort and time someone put into their collection is worth more than any coin to me.
Anyway. Without giving names and my source I hope that answers it.

But I have searched my fair share of rolls. Finding one in the wild is hard but very satisfying.
