Hey guys. I've been roll hunting like crazy. Came across this. It is zinc rotted to hades. However I looked anyway. It has the Wide AM reverse. I posted on a small Facebook group I am in and one guy said he believes it is a 98 coin. In the photo you can clearly see the separation making it a 3. I haven't soaked this or cleaned or anything. It came out of the roll like this. I guess what I am needing to know is this a 3 in your opinion? Also with no Wide AM being reported in 93 would this hold any value with the horrible zinc rot? As always I appreciate the feedback and knowledge shared every time. God bless.

Normal design for a 1992. The coin was altered. If this had been a rare coin, the damage would cancel out the value. They tried hard to kill that cent.

Thanks @coop. After taking the pictures, posting and writing I go back and look at them again. Then it dawns on me 92. That stupid bubble made it look like a 93 and made it look like the 3 was in half. Got me. Looking again no doubts it is a 92. Ugh. I can't stand zinc rot.

This is not zinc rot, it is (probably) intentional, post mint damage. Zinc rot does not look or manifest itself like this.

It depends on what the damage started out like. Zinc rot will just keep getting worse and worse until there is nothing left. I've found a few worse than this.
