Hi Friends,

So....I'm excavating at my residence to install a water feature and pond. Ultimately I'll move about 800 yards of soil. To date I'm moved about half and stockpiled the soil for future use.

Yesterday I was shoveling soil from the stockpile into a bucket for use in a garden. I dumped out one of many buckets of soil and could see a sliver of something shiny. I pulled it out and it was a Jefferson nickel.

As likely is the case with most coin nuts, I'm incapable of picking a coin up off the ground without putting a loupe on it. I did so and to my amazement it's a 1981-D RPM#1! What are the odds!?!?

I gave it a S & W bath and it's not a bad coin considering the sub(terranean) standard with which it was stored for the last ? years.

A couple quickie images:

Fun stuff.

Happy collecting!

Probably spent to much time in a casino. (at that time they didn't use cards and the coins suffered a lot more then)
