I may have spent too much on this 1619 Krone (4 Mark) Christian IV of Denmark. However I've noticed that they have largely disappeared from the marketplace lately. Let me know what you think.

Very nice coin and a stunning portrait of the king walking. I would say its a high Fine edging close to VF, but so neat and well struck.

I suspect your coin was also for Norwegian colonial use as well, as Norway was part of Denmark at the time, along with Gotland.

Christian IV ruled Denmark from 1588 until 1648 and was considered one of their very best and most popular kings. His sister married King James VI/I of Scotland/England in 1589.
Loving Halfcrowns. British and Commonwealth coins 1750 - 1950 and anything Kiwi.
If it's round, shiny and silvery I will love it.

The coin finally arrived yesterday. It is better than I expected. The wear is light and there is remaining luster in the fields under the toning (which I wasn't able to capture in these photos.)



I also found a free online image editor that does circle cropping.
