I was search through jar of old change and came across this 1956D Wheat back penny. The obverse of the coin appears to be missing the letter t at the end of the word trust. Wanting to get some opinions on whether this is an actual error or if it has just wore off over time. Thank you in advance!
Welcome to the forum. The last T (or should I say missing T) in TRUST is caused by a greased filled die. This is a very common occurrence and is not a mint error. Die grease fills the voids of the die face and thus causes the letters (or devices) to not be struck on a coin. Very common on all denominations of a coin and does not carry a premium with a minor example like yours. Still a very neat find though..
