If you zoom in you can see it penetrates the columns but it does not penetrate through to the other side of the coin

Doesn't really matter what caused it, it's not an error so it must be damage of some sort.

Don, it is best to start a new post for each coin as it can
cause confusion with more than one on the same thread.
Both of the coins shown are damage.

I washed the coin with vinegar cleaned it up somewhat but the blemish is still there could it be a flaw in the metal itself and does this make the coin valuable in any way
