Oh. Right. For some reason I had the impression that David was going by Perth time (and/or Western Australian time, which is the same thing AFAIK).

I guess I wouldn't qualify then. Sad.

The time was by the CCF clock which is some American timezone. It seems to be GMT-5 which would be American Eastern Time (New York etc).

Very disadvantageous to me being in NZ with daylight savings time which is GMT + 13 hours.

Been nearly 2 weeks since it closed now - ennui setting in.
Loving Halfcrowns. British and Commonwealth coins 1750 - 1950 and anything Kiwi.
If it's round, shiny and silvery I will love it.

OK all. The results are in (sorry for taking so long).

Firstly, I just double checked my emails and there are still just the 3 entries.

3rd place goes to Spence.

1st place is a draw between Steve and Princetane who submitted the same results. Alas, not a perfect score with 139 out of 144. All five points were lost because the lads didn't pay close enough attention to the second image. It was there for a purpose! I'll leave the top 2 place getters to decide among themselves which 2 prizes they want with the remaining prize going to Spence.

For the record, the correct results are:

Thanks for the contest David. It was a lot of fun but I know you put quite a bit of effort into it.
Glad to see the results but not sure what happened to my email. This has happened a couple of times with the email feature.

BTW- Here's my meager list (21) since the internet gobbled up my email (even though it's too late to count).
#1 Italy 10 Centesimi Bee 1919-1937
#2 US 1 Dollar Peace dollar 1921-1935
#4 Canadian 1 Cent 1937-1952
#010 Spain
#011 USSR 1 Rouble Yuri Gagarin Flight 1981-1988
#013 So. Rhodesia 3 Pence 1948-1952

#037 US 25 cents Amer. the Beautiful 2020

#052 UK 50 pence Paddington @ Palace 2018
#059 Russia 50 Kopeks 1924-1927
#073 France 5 Franc

#081 Isle of Man 5 pence 3rd Portrait 1994-1995
#083 Mozambique 5 Meticais 1980-1986

#093 Belize 1 dollar 30 yr Comm. Issue 2012
#094 Australia 50 cent No Bars 1966

#109 US 10 cent Mercury Dime 1916-1945
#116 Kenya 5 Shilling Rhino 2018

#121 N. Korea 1 Chon Comm.- Steam Train 2002
#122 Jamaica 5 Shillings UK Empire Games 1966

#136- UK - 10 Pence Loch Ness Monster 2018-2019
#138- US 1 cent Formative Years 2009
#139 Gibraltar 2 Pence 300th Anniversary 2004

And it seems my only claim to fame on this contest is getting #94 and all the US coins correct. (But I got #4& #10 wrong and #73 partially correct if that counts. )

Woohoo. Go team USA.

@dg, as much work as it was to participate, I know that it was tons more for you to organize this contest and then grade our submissions. Congrats to the co-winners @pt and @tm! You guys are way out of my league on this stuff.

Absolutely agree with you, Spence.

TM & PT are an awesome Numismatic tag team. I bet they wear masks when they are in the ring. No mercy. LOL

And January1May, you had a respectable showing.

Oh okay - glad to win, but seems slightly nitpicky, I honestly thought guessing the right coin would be good enough and some were ambiguous meaning they matched 2 very similar types (Dutch and Antillean 10 cent coins etc). Australian 50 cent coin has identical design and portrait on all of them to 1984. We were penalised for not knowing metal colour basically - for someone with limited sight like me nickle and silver look very close in colour.

I will let Steve choose his prize and first and then I will have the other one.

Steve did probably 65 - 70% of the work and deserves first pick.

AFAIK this was mentioned when the type originally came up, to the effect that there are design differences that distinguish them anyway. I was under the impression that this implied that the coat of arms was squeezed slightly differently on a round vs. dodecagonal flan, and that this was noticeable in the photos.

I couldn't see the difference, but it would not surprise me if it was in fact there.
