Canadian coins are bronze, not copper. I have a number of Canadian cents with "brass" toning, some of it natural, some of intentional... we usually get about 3-4 1859 examples posted per year, with optimistic folks who think they have the real deal...

As I've said before, concerning 1859's, there are 3-4 cleaning agents in everyone's home, under the sink or in the laundry, that will turn coinage-bronze into something resembling brass in color. This coin has been "scrubbed" heavily and my first choice is Brasso, as mentioned above.
