I did submit a report to that site after learning about it from a dealer.
Observations:
~ selecting the NMC Bulletins page, it looks like he monitors mainly large-scale thefts. Some single shipment losses are listed with astounding $ values.
~ short of your idea for a digital verification system, if dealers could make it a weekly practice to check the new theft bulletins, then there might be improved recovery rates. Many
very likely alreadyy do this. So far there are not so many notices that it would take long to keep current with.
~ we have a current trend of releasing felons from jail ahead of schedule; forgive the society-wide speculation, but high-value small-size merchandise like stolen coins may now become more vulnerable as a 'market' for those needing quick cash. Which makes cranking up the defenses via efficient communication more urgent.
