I have identified this as a southern song dynasty 17.907/908 bronze cast 500 cash coin reduced. I know there were/are a lot of counterfeit coins made. How do I know if this is real or not? I have not found a lot on this coin so any additional information would help. Thanks.

It was no one on the list, I was just going through some random coins that I inherited. Not sure where it came from, just trying to find out something about it. If is a fake, it is not a big deal, I will just make it into a pendant for my wife as she likes the way it looks. Thanks.

Fake. Exactly the same fabric and patina as the fantasy issues being peddled day and night on ebay from Chinese sellers.

I wouldn't bother defacing it. The genuine item is so very rare that these fantasy reproductions aren't really dangerous. Enjoy it for what it is.
