Another nice one I got in my recent trade. Tops off this variety for me as likely won't find one better. It's a little late of die stage to really see the two mint marks well, but they're there. 1947-S/S (sans serif/serif) Lincoln Wheat cent - RPM-004, FS-504     |

Thanks! Yeah, the sans serif is the one to the north, while the pointy bit of the serif punch is still visible sticking down. I suppose it's easier to see if you know what it's supposed to look like. And as for two different mint mark styles, I suppose the guy that punched them had a drawer or something with the punches in it, and pulled out the opposite style of the one the die had already been hit with (which apparently needed punched again). What I am more surprised about is how few upside down S mint marks there are as that seems an easy mistake to make. Maybe the handle was grooved or something to show which way was up.

That's a real beauty. This is one I'll probably end up buying or cherry-picking at a show given how tough it is to see in pictures online. You've got a real stunner!

I didn't get it until I remembered that the S mints had two different mint mark styles. I'm surprised these don't get put in the books and have more collector interest. They are intentional different mint marks in the same year.
