I am seeing the font specified in my browser for "monospace" rather than the "default" font. Example: I don't know if something has changed on my end, or on the forum's end. Please advise as to which you think it might be. Thanks.

I think it's a Firefox change. I noticed it in FF after an update a few days ago. I didn't do it though.

Firefox has always used the monospaced font for me here. However, in my opinion, the bigger issue is that the font you are showing in your capture image is not monospaced. Monospaced is what you should see with the CODE tags.
Notice how all the letters line up vertically.

jbuck, I also noticed that. That was not my concern. Until recently, I always saw "Arial" font (my default font) everywhere on this site.

Sorry, but I'm confused.
The subject line of your post refers to "Typing In The Quick Or Full Reply," but the partial screenshot you include is that for a new topic.
Also, which browser/version are you using?

Firefox v99.0 It does it in all three places (and when editing a post). Once posted, it shows up in Arial.

Again, this is expected. The input boxes use that font setting and it sounds like your monospace font was changed in settings.
Go into Settings, scroll down to Language and Appearance, Fonts and Colors. Click on Advanced and see what is set for Monospace. Default is Consolas. Yours looks like it is set to Times New Roman.
Edit: You posted while I was tying. Set it to Consolas.

Quote: The input boxes use that font setting and it sounds like your monospace font was changed in settings. Upgrading Firefox from 98.0.2 to 99.0 changes the default monospace font from courier new to consolas. Please note also that many of the monospace fonts listed by Firefox actually render as proportional.

Quote: changed monospace font from courier new to consolas Perhaps previously I had changed this to Arial, and that is why all fonts in display and input boxes were Arial.

Quote: Upgrading Firefox from 98.0.2 to 99.0 changes the default monospace font from courier new to consolas I did not realize that. I guess I am used to Consolas being ever present in my life. For the longest time now I have set monospace to Consolas in everything I use (terminal programs, text editors, code viewers, etc.). For what it is worth, I had to do a fresh install of FF in a sandbox to confirm what the default was before posting yesterday. Quote: Please note also that many of the monospace fonts listed by Firefox actually render as proportional. Correct. It is going to present the font as it is designed, not how you want to use it.

You know, that is a good question and I do not have an answer. I just know that is how the it is coded. If you were using Arial before without any problems, then I see no reason you cannot continue to use it.

So, I just tweaked the CSS a bit to make it Arial and a little bigger.
I kinda like it. Easier to add tags and such.
The most common reason I get from new members about typing in all caps is that it's easier to read what they type.
May have to do a forced refresh.

Someday, someday we'll have Latin as an option. Someday.
