Well I've been out in the fields again and searching for some of those dropped coins that we all like to collect. I was at a couple of nice old sites but the coins were few and far between and even the ones that came to light were much worse for the wear. Final site of the week took me to and old Acadian homesite that was later reclaimed by British colonist. These crossover sites often have the most interesting finds. Although the pickings were slim there were some interesting ones. My best find included an 1804 five shillings/ dollar coin from the Bank of England. Wow!...what a first for me! Big old silver coin in really nice shape from the ground. There is an interesting counterstamp on George's neck.."JP"...research to follow for this one. Another neat thing about this one..they were overstruck on Spanish American 8 reales and there are lots of remnants on the under type. Besides the couple plough kisses(scrapes) it's got a ton of character and a top shelf find in my collection. When I said last time I was hoping to have some silver to post....well next I hope I got something even better to share with you all!
