Hey hey diggers!

Well I've been out in the fields again and searching for some of those dropped coins that we all like to collect.
I was at a couple of nice old sites but the coins were few and far between and even the ones that came to light were much worse for the wear.
Final site of the week took me to and old Acadian homesite that was later reclaimed by British colonist. These crossover sites often have the most interesting finds.
Although the pickings were slim there were some interesting ones. My best find included an 1804 five shillings/ dollar coin from the Bank of England.
Wow!...what a first for me! Big old silver coin in really nice shape from the ground. There is an interesting counterstamp on George's neck.."JP"...research to follow for this one.
Another neat thing about this one..they were overstruck on Spanish American 8 reales and there are lots of remnants on the under type. Besides the couple plough kisses(scrapes) it's got a ton of character and a top shelf find in my collection.
When I said last time I was hoping to have some silver to post....well next I hope I got something even better to share with you all!

Fantastic find. Very multidimensional, between the overstrike and the counter-stamp. I would be shaking if I pulled that out of the ground.

Porous, rough fields leave me somewhat suspicious.

Nevertheless, I am well aware that some of these were struck on Spanish dollars that may have seen better days.

many thanks for the feedback

@sel691...the porous and rough fields I attributed to two centuries buried in the ground, nothing suspicious about that

Point taken; I have seen very similar and considered to be genuine by a very experienced coin dealer.

How deep was it? Did it pop right out at you?
