The E looks pretty normal to me.

I do not see anything wrong with the E however I can not zoom in very close.

On a doubled die, one letter doesn't make it a doubled die. There should be several affected on that area. Otherwise it could just be damage to the coin. The mark into that device is incuse, second clue that the coin was damaged.
