I found this nice nickel in pocket change. For being on circulation for 22 years, could it be a proof coin I r wrong planchet ? There's hardly a scratch on it. Looks to be in perfect condition and the shine is immense?

It's not a proof coin because it's a d mintmark, not an S.

Proof is not a condition, it is a process of minting in and of itself.
Might be a polished coin?

Ok, thank you. I knew about the S marks, but it just seemed too perfect and "new" looking, kinda had me baffled! Thanks for the answers.

this looks like one of the many 2000D business strike nickels that have an unusually smooth surface and reflective shine

It is a nice looking 22 year old nickel. I wonder if it had spent time in someone's collection for a while before being released back into the wild.
