1950 Obvious Planchet Error

During smelting, unwanted contaminants float to the top of the molten metal in the form of slag. This slag is supposed to be skimmed off before the alloy is poured into the mold for the ingot. If small pieces of slag remain behind, they can end up in the ingot and persist there through all the subsequent steps of the minting process - rolling, blanking, upsetting, and striking... ttkoo Valued Member Australia 239 Posts	Posted 06/12/2022 11:50 pm with the slag inclusion I have a soft spot for pre-decimal errors / varieties. I'm jealous that you have an obverse christmas tree. Interest in errors has waned over the years, but IMO it's a keeper. could also be an obverse die crack under FIDEI, and a lump under the G in D : G, but hard to make it out from the pic.
