What I "think"(?) was the genuine model coin was sold back in 2019 by a reputable firm in Spain - at least 3 fakes of it have appeared since then. One sold on eBay for over $500 a few days ago with 3-4 legit bidders over $400.

Not a bad fake overall, but there are some red flags present.

This seller currently has another listed of a similar fabric that I had not seen before - a 1672 Potosi 8R. A bit more obvious at first glance, but still will fool some people.

Admittedly I had to stare at that photo for a minute to pick up on the differences. I am reticent to ask any questions out of concern for helping those who seek to deceive.

All the 1676's look struck, but the crack is in the same place on all of them, so more likely cast. Pretty high quality fakes. I don't like the look of the lions, and the S in what I think are the three fakes looks like a serpent. Those three also have a strange surface granularity in the open areas, which should be much smoother.

The 1676 in the upper left looks the most real on account of the double striking on the castle and the cross.

The 1672 shows casting bubbles and the S is terrible.
